Big Brothers Big Sisters of Anderson & Franklin Counties Celebrates 100th Match!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Anderson and Franklin Counties recently reached a milestone when they made their 100th mentoring match. Big Brothers Big Sisters has been serving Anderson County children since 2002. In 2008, the program began serving children in Franklin County as well.
The 100th match was made in September and it paired Big Brother Chris Raider with Little Brother Michael. The two have a love for sports…especially football. When Chris met Michael for the first time, he knew he had a perfect match!
That is one unique aspect of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. We match our Bigs and Littles based on compatibility. We ask what hobbies and activities you like to do and then we find a Little that shares those common interests. It makes for a longer match and helps build a great friendship between the two.
Big Brother Chris and Little Brother Michael spent their first couple of meetings playing basketball and tennis. Chris has also been to watch one of Michael’s soccer games. Future plans include having lunch together at Michael’s school and going to a KU football game.
We are so excited to be celebrating the success of 100 matches in Anderson and Franklin Counties, However, there are still more than 40 children waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister in our community. We need your help to find them Bigs
